Tim’s Story

I have been in the auction business full-time since 2008. I have worked with many wonderful clients and look forward to sharing some interesting adventures. My role at Kamelot Auction House is to build relationships with clients who are looking or needing to sell their valuable personal property as well as to support the client throughout the auction process with the help of my team at Kamelot.

I have consistently been surprised that the question I have received most often the past fourteen years is “How did you become interested in the auction business?”

It all started with my father. He loved going to auctions and would often take me or one of my siblings along on his auction excursions (possibly to pretend he was helping my mom). He often took me. He later told me it was because I never complained about going. I never complained because I loved the environment. The auctions often had big crowds with many enthusiastic people and active bidding. It was exciting! Much to my mother’s chagrin, Dad was an active buyer and brought home far more than she had in mind.

I was attracted to a different side of the auction business: the selling side.

When I saw an item start at five dollars and be bid up to over $100, I was energized. Five dollars was terrific, but $100 or more felt like an incredible amount of money to me as a young boy. Looking back, it makes perfect sense that my youthful enthusiasm led to my love for helping clients who have reason to sell through auction.

I have enjoyed attending auctions my whole life. What I have realized since working in the business is the great deal of emotion many individuals and families feel when they are selling. The clients I work with are often families dealing with an estate, couples or seniors moving and downsizing from the home where they raised their families, collectors who have stopped collecting after many years, or someone who has inherited, collected or otherwise gathered a lot of stuff which is filling rooms and spaces in their home and they are “Stuffocating”. Since coining this word, I have realized “Stuffocating” is a feeling felt by families and executors dealing with an estate and downsizers as well. I have also helped clients who are downsizing by moving out of their primary home as they move full-time into their fully-furnished vacation home.

I think of my job as a unique opportunity to listen to and empathize with clients who are going through difficult transitions in their lives and help them identify and sell wonderful items. I have created this newsletter to share my experiences working in the auction business and my love for auctions! About Kamelot

Kamelot Auction House occupies a 40,000 square-foot gallery in a renovated 19th-century brick three-story building blocks off I-95 in Philadelphia. I welcome the opportunity to help when you have a client, friend, or contact who can use my help to identify and sell through our upscale auctions. Among our regular offerings are wonderful antiques, fine art, decorative arts, fine furniture & furnishings, lighting, silver, jewelry, collections and garden & architectural elements.

About My Team

My team at Kamelot includes our specialists, photographers, office staff and gallery staff making the auction magic happen. Auction Magic takes a lot of hard work.

I regularly team with professional organizers and senior move managers as we help estate and downsizing clients work through what often feels like an overwhelming project to organize and complete well. I regularly team with realtors to help with downsizing and estate clients. The realtor handles the sale of the home and we help with the many furnishings inside and around the home. I regularly work with estate attorneys and paralegals, trust officers, financial planners and CPA’s helping their clients to deal with an estate.
