We are Here to Help

Most people go through life and at some point find themselves with too much “stuff.” The causes of this are wide-ranging and very natural. The question becomes how do we deal with it? Sometimes these accumulated items have a monetary value. Sometimes they have sentimental value. In either case, separating from them can be a bit daunting.

Our curated team of professionals is here to help streamline the process so you can clear through that “stuff” and feel confident that you’ve done the right thing.

Executors & Families Dealing with an Estate

Families and executors often feel like they are “Stuffocating” when dealing with an estate. It is usually an emotional time for the family and when there is the contents of a house to sell it can be overwhelming. Very often there is a need to help identify and sell valuable items including antiques, fine art, fine furniture & furnishings, lighting, silver, statues and collections.

Many times the executor does not have knowledge of what is valuable and how to sell valuables when there is a need to do so and may not know much or anything about items which seem like they have value.

We can help identify the valuable items including items such as antiques, fine art, fine furniture & furnishings, lighting, silver, statues, jewelry and collections. We also regularly offer antique & vintage garden and architectural elements.

Inherited Items

When someone inherits an item, it is often not their taste or they simply don’t have room. Tastes change from generation to generation. We regularly help clients when they want to find a good home for a special item.

Someone Moving & Downsizing

Downsizing has been growing dramatically. There are so many more senior-focused developments and retirement communities than even 15 years ago. I have worked with many wonderful downsizing clients from the age of 49 to 99.

These include younger downsizers moving when their youngest child graduates from high school or college all the way to the typically much older downsizers requiring special health or living services in a retirement community. There are many reasons and many varied circumstances among the downsizing clients I have helped.

What is almost always the same is:

  1. They have items they would like to sell.
  2. They generally do not know which of their items have value at the time they are downsizing.

It is common for the most valuable handful of items to be worth as much as everything else combined. However, the most valuable items are very often not the ones my client has identified as most valuable. We can help identify the valuable items including items such as antiques, fine art, fine furniture & furnishings, lighting, silver, statues and collections.

Collectors

Collectors who stop collecting often prefer to sell their collection rather than leave it to their family or estate to handle. When this is the case, auctions can be an efficient and effective approach to selling the collection. Collectors interested in buying are excited to have the opportunity to add to their own collection. When collectors are in competition with each other for an item, the bidding can be very active and drive the prices higher and higher.

A nice extra benefit to selling a collection at auction is the auction catalog which includes wonderful pictures of the items and offers the collector a way to look back on their collection in an organized and memorable way.
